his project was created in collaboration with Flowwow for UAE National Day, reimagining gifting as an act of care, connection, and everyday hospitality. At the center of the set is a handcrafted ceramic cup illustrated with two hands reaching toward one another, a simple gesture that speaks to giving, receiving, and shared presence.

The illustration draws from my ongoing interest in hands as symbols of generosity, exchange, and relationality. One hand offers, the other receives, reflecting Emirati hospitality and the quiet rituals that bring people together, from serving coffee to sitting in conversation. Rather than using overt national imagery, the design focuses on a universal yet deeply local gesture that resonates across cultures.

The cup was paired with a thoughtfully curated gift set, designed to be used during gatherings and shared moments. The packaging and accompanying card extend the narrative of warmth, care, and intentional gifting, aligning with Flowwow’s emphasis on meaningful experiences rather than transactional objects.

This collaboration reflects my broader practice of translating cultural values into intimate, functional design objects. For me, National Day becomes less about spectacle and more about the everyday actions that hold communities together, hands passing a cup, stories exchanged, and time spent together.
